There’s definitely to account such an AMAZING concert. Worth every single cent spent (on the concert).
Firstly, I’ll start with the organisers.
Launch has been rather efficient at ticket sales, promotion etc but the greatest disappointment came on the day itself. At MBS, it was an re-enactment of the infamous 313 incident. There were no barricades set up for queuing at outside MBS as both MBS and Launch had totally assumed that fans would only start queuing after the official time. (barricades were only set up in MBS itself) YEAH RIGHT. most fans queued overnight, hoping for the best position to stand. There was a major chaos outside the gates of MBS convention centre as well as all the fans were packed like sardines. Securities started forcing people to move back but when they tried opening the doors again, everyone surged forward. Even the only guy in charge there was forced into the crowd. Friends got separated and it was an incident that taught me a good lesson. NEVER QUEUE FOR A FREE STANDING EVENT. I’ll definitely erased that from my memory, as painful as it caused me physically and mentally.
Holding area before the concert:
There was a holding area for fans to queue before the concert. As cool as it may sound, it was freakin cold and fans were not allowed out of the place once they entered. The organisers never took into consideration that fans needed to eat even if were queueing early.
Entering the venue:
The organisers let in 30 people at one go, so the waiting process was long and draining. But I’m not complaining that it should have been done in a different way.
The venue:
Pathetic. Bad sound system. What else can you expect from a convention centre. But the I stage was satisfying as it allowed close interactions between the artistes and fans.
Finally, the CONCERT ITSELF.
I was really satisfied with the video transitions that MULA has prepared as it created a seamless entry into the programme put up by the next artiste. The lightings and occasionaly fireworks were cool and appropriate as well.
MBLAQ came out first and everyone in the crowd started tip-toeing to get a better view.
OMG IT’S MBLAQ. They rocked with “Oh yeah” and “Y”. Exactly like how i pictured it to be. They seem a little tired though
AND JOON STARTED REVEALING HIS ABS OMG. Hahahah that got everyone screaming. MBLAQ put up solo performances for the fans and it proved to everyone that they are capable individually. G.O sang as english song in perfect english. Joon did his awesome ballet. Mir rapped down the aisle. Seungho DANCED though, that was rather surprising considering he was a vocal. Cool dance Seungho! And then it was Chundong, with his rendition of Rain’s “In My Bed” Damm I was so surprised when Chundong performed that. Considering myself as a huge rain fan when I was young and having attended quite a few of Rain’s concert, Chundong’s rendition was subtle and innocent. Hahah xP Nonetheless, I was impressed with young Chundong.
Then MBLAQ returned to put up a group song “One Better Day” which sounds a whole lot better LIVE than on TV.
MBLAQ performed as I pictured them to on TV. But I had expected more charisma oozing out from them. It’s okay, they are still young performers and we can definitely expect more of them in the future.
NEXT UP WAS MISS A(missing Suzy).
Considering that Miss A is a small idol group to begin with (since there are groups with 13), Suzy’s absence was greatly felt on the rather empty stage. I had wanted to see how Suzy looked like on stage, must be damm gorgeous but was upset that she can’t make it due to her drama filming. Nonetheless, I’ve finally met the girl I’ve liked since 2006. MIN <3 I’m glad she managed to debut and make it big afterall.
Miss A’s first performance was “Breathe + Chinese Ver” It was something which I did not want to see after they performed that at MAMA. Honestly, if the Singapore fans love Kpop so much, they wouldn’t really want to listen to anything Chinese. Haha. But it was cool though, since you get to see Jia and Fei sing in their native language. The transition from Korean to Chinese wasn’t sudden but I couldn’t catch it in the beginning since Jia suddenly rapped in Chinese. Hahah xP
Miss A had their ment in English and Chinese. Min’s English is so cuteeeee
Jia and Fei spoke in Chinese to the crowd.
They went on to perform Poker Face which they performed at Chocolate if i didn’t remember wrongly. Lip-synced? But their dance was impressive. They are probably the best girl dance group as a whole, after CSJH
The last song they performed, was the song that rocketted them into popularity. It’s totally deserving of the song of the year award. Awesome song by a talented group. The whole crowd screamed along to the song.
2AM WAS UP NEXT. <3333333333
2AM started with “Can’t let you go even if I die”. AWESOME AS USUAL. Having saw them at their showcase, I knew what to expect from them, and they weren’t below expectations! hahaha xP All 4 members are really good looking in real life, especially Seulong and Jinwoon. They sang all their hit songs but I’m really sad that they didn’t perform “This Song”, the song that captivated all our hearts. They also performed: you wouldn’t answer my calls, like crazy, friend’s confession, sorry i can’t smile for you, i was wrong, number 1, 어떡하죠. You wouldn’t answer my calls sounds freakin good live.
I’m glad they sang sorry i can’t smile for you, cos it’s not a title track yet it’s damm good. I was wrong was hot. I was actually surprised that they sang number 1. Remember the hideous MV? I’m glad I saw it LIVE.
The boys went crazy, dancing around stage, running there and here. It sounded really good LIVE. Kwon was in the KKAP mood so he did abracadabra right in front of us, which was directly infront of me and he did HOOT everywhere he ran. HAHAHA xP Meanwhile, prince Seulong walked down the asile like a gentleman. Note the contrast. HAHAHA
BEAST was the 2nd last group to go. The group I knew least of before I went for MULA. I was only familiar with Ki Kwang and Doo Joon. But I tried to force myself to memorise their faces and names the night before the concert and tried listening to their songs so I won’t look stagnant at the concert. DAMM DONGWOON’s DAMMM GOOD LOOKING. Ki Kwang and Doo Joon are as good looking as I expected them to be. Yo Seob was actually even cuter in real life!!! Junhyung was more good looking too. They sang quite a few songs like Shock, Soom, Beautiful, Oasis, Mystery, Bad Girl etc => their hit songs. There were a lot of beast fans there and when they came on, the whole crowd was in a frenzy. SCREAMING. There was this ahjumma in front that left during beast’s performance because she couldn’t tolerate the noise the crowd was making. Hahaha Beast didn’t act like a rookie group at all and were charismatic. Honestly, though I’m more of a MBLAQ fan, I couldn’t help but be impressed at how good Beast was even though they had debuted around the same time. Beast dance choreos look better LIVE than on TV, more impactful. There were loads of cutesy moments between the members I remember. Doojoon was smelling Junhyung(?)’s armpits!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHA it was hilarious. Beautiful is my fav Beast song I think. LOVE THE CUTENESS TOO.
I think MULA saved the best for the last. It’s the leaders of the Hallyu wave 2PM. It became 2PM’s mini concert as MULA gave them the most time to perform. They had 2 sets of outfits to change into as compared to other artistes 0 sets. They even had video transistions during their performance!! OMG Though it was quite uneven, the time allocation I mean, I think 2PM made the best out of it, as they brought the concert to a whole new level. 2PM in indeed one of the best groups that KPOP has these days. Being quite a fan of them, I kinda expected them to do some stuff etc but they totally blew my expectations away. THEY WERE A DIFFERENT LEVEL AS COMPARED TO THE OTHER ACTS. Their entrance was already so FREAKINGGGGG IMPACTFUL that it was so strong and powerful. HOTTTTTTTT. They started with “Don’t stop can’t stop”, the song that kept every single person in the crowd SCREAMING to 2PM. A song that I knew that would have given such an impact when I watched them perform it on TV. BUT OMG it was just AWESOME. The passion they brought on stage was AMAZING. Even as compared to the other artistes. I think 2PM’s power was the greatest.
They then continued with the same passion and when into “I HATE YOU” OMGGGGGGGG it’s a song that I’ve always wanted to see it LIVE. DAMMM HOT. like seriously, especially the part when they go down their chins and where junsu does the no no no thing. OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG Btw junsu was damm funny. HAHAHA
And they went on to do “WITHOUT U”. It’s better LIVE than on TV. And I could finally listen to Junho’s vocals that I’ve always wanted to hear. I wonder how 2PM manages to sing 3 songs continuously with hardcore passionate dancing without compromising on their vocals.
Then it was their 1st MENT. OMGGGGG Khun and Taec’s ENGLISH WERE DAMM GORGEOUS. JUNHO’S ENGLISH WAS SO CUTEEEE. Junsu said he lived in Singapore for a year!!! HAHAHAH xP HAHHAAH he was just damm funny lah.
They sang ONLY YOU and they were giving out flowers to the crowd!!!!!!!! ROMANTICCCC How badly i wanted those!!!!!! <333333 They also remixed the song too!!! It’s a song they sang in 2008 too, and they rocked it and it definitely brought back memories. It just shows how much they have changed too.
They went on to sing Angel with Angel wings (cliche but it looks too small for our muscle man)
Then it was video transition into I’LL BE BACK. OMGGGGGGGGG EVERYONE DID THE TERMINATOR THING ALONG WITH 2PM. And sang along to everything. It was Khun’s part and everyone shouted with him!!!
Next was Tired of Waiting, the song that was on replay in my MP3 for 3 months. SERIOUSLY. it’s a song that grows on you. I didn’t like it the first time i heard it at the gayodaejun. But OMG khun’s pelvic thrust was SEXYYYYY..
They sang Can’t Forget Your Love and Taec picked a girl from the crowd and kissed her on her hand. THAT’S ALL I COULD REMEMBER. I WAS LIKE OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGG HAHAHAH
It was 10 out of 10, they sang it 2 years ago and it’s definitely a MILLION TIMES BETTER NOW. <3 Junho was dammmmm sexyyyyyyyyyyyyy <333 They did all their flips perfectly even without Jay
Anyways Khun did Victoria’s Ddong ddong thing in Nu ABO during his la la la part <33333333 OMGGG HAHAHA xP Damm cute khuntoria!!! <33
They sang I give you my life, one of my fav ballads from them!!!!!!!! it’s damm nice to hear it live!! Chan’s vocals are really up to standard!!! <3333 previously as a rapper, but he can sing too you know!!
They sang Gimme me the light, don’t really like the song but nonetheless… they were very serious abt it. they walked down and stopped at the aisle so WOO was right in front of me OMGGGGGGGGGGG
Next they sang the song that made 2PM a household name, AGAIN AND AGAIN. <333333333333 I LOVE HOW KHUN DOES THAT PART. I think that Jay had a huge role in making this song AWESOME. but yeah, they were good, even without Jay. (i’m not a jaywalker cos I believe that’s some kind of conspiracy that resulted in Jay, our talented leader, leaving 2PM, and it’s not the fault of the other members. They are just puppets of JYPE)
Then it’s my fav song to watch LIVE, HEARTBEAT. The choreo is just freakin AWESOME LAH. It’s the extended ver somemore. The best song to end this whole concert with!!!!!!!!!!
EVERYONE WANTED MORE OF 2PM and shouted 2PM even when they had left the stage.
They didn’t come back for an encore unfortunately BUT all the artistes (except beast) came back on stage to thank the audience!!! WHERE’S BEAST?!
The act of the night was definitely 2PM, whether or not you’re a 2PM fan.
I was taken over, completely. <3
Though it’s many’s first times seeing them in Singapore, I saw them perform at the Kpop Night in 2008, when Kpop wasn’t that HOT in Singapore. Who knew 2PM was gonna turn out this huge then? They were amateurs then, who didn’t know how to interact with the crowd and didn’t know how to produce a powerful stage. They have changed. THEY ARE FREAKIN SUPERSTARS NOW that have taken the whole of Asia by storm. Even though they have met with obstacles, I believe they will definitely produce better results in the future. Asia’s too small a stage for the beastly idols that can perform so passionately and powerfully.
I’m not a hardcore fan of them, but I was truly convinced by them because of MULA
MBLAQ reminded me of 2PM in 2008 so I believe that they have much more talent and potential to be discovered!
In conclusion, MULA Singapore was definitely the event of the year for me. Memorable. Tiring but Mind Blowingly AWESOME. Hope that it can be a regular event after much improvements can be made!!!
Thanks MBLAQ MISS A 2AM BEAST 2PM for putting up such an AWESOME concert! There should have been some inter group collabs!! ONE DAY <333 JYP NATION YOU KNOW!!!!! <333
